KARACHI: Shopkeepers fined

KARACHI, Dec 2: The government has recovered Rs1,72,700 million as challan from 260 shop keepers for overcharging rates of edible items in contrast to the price-list during Ramazan.

According to a press note, the fine was imposed by judicial magistrates on shopkeepers operating in different parts of the city. Out of 260, the highest number of shopkeepers were challaned in Shah Faisal Colony where Rs5900 were fined on 37 shopkeepers, while in Soldier Bazar Rs46,500 were fined on 18 traders and Rs43,900 on 19 shopkeepers of Jodia Bazar.

In New Karachi 35 shopkeepers were fined Rs18,650 while from 25 shopkeepers in Gulberg, Gulshane Iqbal and Malir Rs9500 were collected as fine. Rs5500 from 35 traders of Liaquat Market in Malir, Rs14,000 from 14 shopkeepers of Quaidabad, Rs5600 from 10 shopkeepers of Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Rs12,450 from 39 shopkeepers of Machi Miani.
