SHEIKHUPURA, March 25: Scores of Christians demonstrated on Tuesday against the continuous US bombardment on Iraq.
Led by former MPAs Chaudhry Rustam Qaisar and Chaudhry Naimat Masih, the participants, including councillors, marched on the Lahore Road. People from various disciplines joined the procession.
Banners and placards in their hands were emblazoned with anti-US slogans. Expressing concern over the killing of ‘innocent’ people, they asked US President Bush to quit his office. They also urged the world to boycott American products and end diplomatic relations with the country.
According to Mr Qaisar, the US and its allies were committing the worst kind of aggression against the Iraqis to grab oil. The Christians were united against the invasion, which had destroyed world peace, they added.
Mr Masih regretted that the US president had played with the Christians’ sentiments by rejecting Pope John Paul’s appeal to stop invasion.
The women councillors said the US designs were a threat to the world peace.
