RAWALPINDI, March 16: Six people, including a minor girl, were killed, and five others injured in separate incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Sunday.

In the first incident, a motorway police employee was injured after being hit by a diplomat’s car at D-Chowk on Sunday, the police said.

Liaquat Hussain was heading towards Blue Area on his bicycle when hit by the Netherlands ambassador’s car (CD-44-01). The ambassador was on his way to Lahore when the incident took place, the police said.

As a result, Liaquat sustained critical injuries and was shifted to hospital. The embassy car was damaged in the accident, however, another car was arranged for the ambassador.

Earlier on Saturday night, an eight-year-old girl was killed while another injured after being run over by a wagon on Islamabad Highway.

According to the police, Gul Zareen and Izan Zareen were crossing the road when a passenger wagon, driven by Mohammad Iqbal, hit them. Gul Zareen was killed on the spot, while Izan sustained critical injuries. She was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), where her condition was stated to be serious.

Similarly, a man was killed in a road accident in the I-9 police area on Saturday night.

Maqsood Manzoor was crossing a road when hit by a speeding wagon (RIR-7276), the police said.

In another incident, a man, identified as Aurangzaib, was killed after being run over by a car while crossing a road in Westridge on Saturday night, the police said.

Likewise, a man was killed in an road accident in the jurisdiction of Secretariat police on Sunday, the police said.

Bashir Ahmed was crossing a road near Khanna Bridge when hit by a car (IDH 4672).

Another road accident claimed the life of an unidentified person in the Secretariat police area on Sunday.

The victim was crossing a road when hit by a car driven by a retired army officer. He was first taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital. However, later, he was shifted to Pims, where he died.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead by his rivals outside his house in Chauntra on Sunday.

The police said Sultan Khan was coming out of his house when ambushed by his rivals. He was killed on the spot, while the attackers escaped from the scene. The motive behind the murder was an old enmity, the police said.

APP ADDS: One person was injured in a road accident on Sunday.

According to police, Rana Nazir, 25, was hit by a speeding car (AJKE-8701) near GT Road while he was heading home on his bicycle. He sustained injuries on his head and legs and was shifted to Pims, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, two persons were injured in minor disputes, the police said on Sunday.

In the first incident, Lal Pirzada was allegedly attacked and injured by Naseer Ahmad and his six accomplices.

According to Kohsar police, the scuffle erupted between the two parties over parking their cars at a nearby market. After an exchange of hot words, the accused allegedly attacked Lal Pirzada with daggers and rods. As a result, he sustained severe injuries on his head, and was taken to Pims, where his condition was stated to be serious.

In another incident, Ghani Begum, in an FIR lodged with the Sihala police, said Gul Siraj and his six accomplices forcibly entered her house and tortured her with rods. They also took away gold jewellery and other valuables, she added.

The police concerned have registered cases under the relevant sections and launched investigations.

LOOTED ITEMS RECOVERED: The capital police on Sunday recovered looted items worth about Rs1.7 million.

According to a polices source, Neelam Farah Saleem, in an FIR lodged with Margalla police on Saturday, stated that her domestic servant, Maskeen, made off with jewellery, diamonds, wrist watches and other valuables from her house.

The police traced her servant, and during the initial investigation, he confessed to have stolen all the items. The police also retrieved all the stolen items from him.

MONEY CHANGER LOOTED: A money changer was deprived of about Rs0.1 million after being intoxicated by his clients at Aabpara Market, a police source said.

Mohammad Shafiq fainted after eating biscuits offered by his clients. The accused made off with Rs95,000 in cash and Saudi currency equivalent to Rs5,000.

The police have registered a case and started investigations.
