KARACHI, March 12: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts for Karachi Division, remanded on Wednesday a suspect, Abdul Wahab, in police custody till March 18.
The accused has been charged with killing nine people and injuring eight others at an Imambargah in Al-Falah Society on Feb 22. His two accomplices, Shaukat and Shahnawaz, have been shown as absconders in the case.
According to the police, the accused, along with two others, fired on people with automatic weapons when they were going to offer Maghreb prayers in Imambargah Al-Muntazir Al-Mehdi at Al-Falah Society.
Khadim Husain, Muhammad Ali, Sadiq Husain, Muhabbat Ali, Ishtiaq Ali, Yawar Abbas, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Ramzan and Pervaiz were killed and Basharat, Rashid, Zaheer, Hamid Ali, Shamsullah, Imtiaz Husain, Sabir Husain and Essa were injured.
The administrative judge of the ATCs also remanded Abdul Wahab in police custody in two other cases till March 18.
Complainant Nasir Ali lodged the FIR 23/2003 against Abdul Wahab at Arambagh police station on the killing two people, Muhammad Baqar and Ghulam Husain, in a bakery at Lighthouse on Feb 27. While in another case, the police recovered a submachine gun with 30 rounds from his possession at B/84, Model Colony. — PPI
