SADIQABAD, March 8: People of all walks of life on Saturday took to roads and protested against the US threats against Iraq to express solidarity with Muslims.
Led by National People’s Party Central Vice-Chairman Mir Syed Fazl Elahi Fazli, politicians, businessmen and other professionals began their march from the Nishtar chowk at 10am.
Chanting slogans against the US president, the protesters marched through the Hospital Road, Tehsil Road and the main city road and converged at the Railway chowk.
Banners and placards in the protesters’ hands were emblazoned with slogans against President Bush and his administration.
On this occasion, the NPP leader said the patriots had given their verdict against what he called vandalism of Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. He urged the government to vote against the American resolution.
Other speakers said Muslims had been forced to wage a war against its enemies, and reaffirmed their support for Iraq.
