Development schemes approved

SHIKARPUR, March 8: District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar on Saturday presided over two separate meetings of Shikarpur city union council Nazims and Naib Nazims, and the District Mushawarati Committee.

Development schemes, including reconstruction of a circular road and link roads, improvement of the drainage system and disposal of drainage water, were finalized at the meetings.

Earlier, the district government approved many development schemes at its district consultative committee meeting on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by the district Nazim, Mohammad Arif Khan Mahar.

The district Nazim said that the government had released Rs39.9 million for development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP), phase IV, and Rs18 million from the special funds of Rs80 million, which had been announced by the then governor Sindh, Mohammedmian Soomro, during his last visit to the district.

He said Rs12 million will be spent on Shikarpur Taluka, Rs9 million on Khanpur Taluka, Rs10 million on Garhi Yasin Taluka, and Rs8 million on Lakhi Taluka.

He said that the schemes included construction and repair of roads, drainage, and electrification among other schemes.
