KARACHI, March 6: Seven ships carrying crude oil, high speed diesel and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

For the second day in a row, berthing activity at the wharves was slow as only three ships, Hyundai Future, to unload and load containers, Winter to offload steel rails and Koo Yong to load naphtha were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed included APL Venezuela, Hyundai Future, Fu Qing Shan, Panos-G and Monty Rosa, while Geram Sea, Koo Yong, Al-Manakh and Hugo Oldendroff are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the total tonnage handled rose to 92,490 tons comprising 19,808 tons of export cargo including 14,400 tons of liquid one and 72,682 tons of import tonnage, which also included 55,475 tons of crude and high speed diesel.

The following ships are due on Friday: Action Express, with 50,000 tons of high speed diesel, Nuyanbo, with 1,400 tons of chemicals (MEG), Naga, with 69,294 tons of crude oil, Oocl Xiamen, and Kota Teguh, with containers and Beluga Independence, to load project cargo.
