WASHINGTON, Feb 27: The United States warned its citizens living in Pakistan on Thursday to avoid a string of expected demonstrations against its possible invasion of Iraq.

The US embassy in Islamabad has introduced a new “Demonstration Alert” feature on its website to keep track of the protests. “Demonstrations in opposition to US policy on Iraq are expected in various cities in Pakistan in the coming weeks,” it said.

THREAT LEVEL: The Bush administration has decided to lower the terror alert status from high risk to elevated, official sources said here on Thursday.
