Cartridges seized

PESHAWAR, Feb 27: The city police have seized a large quantity of cartridges during a road blockade on Bara Road here on Thursday.

Police had erected a barrier on Bara Road after being tipped off about an ammunition smuggling bid from tribal area.

On suspicion, they stopped a Suzuki car No BUB-1258 and during the search recovered 14,000 cartridges of various bores from the secret cavities of its floor, police sources said.

Police have arrested Bashir Gul, son of Gul Zaman, a resident of Sulemankhel, Badhber.

The accused told the police during the interrogation that he was smuggling the cartridges on the demand of Iqbal Hussain, an arms dealer in Khyber Bazaar.
