SIALKOT, Feb 22: The Sialkot district bar association, led by its president Chaudhry Munawar Hussain Warraich, took out a peaceful anti-US procession here.
The protesters chanted anti-US slogans and criticized the US for imposing another war on Iraq. They urged the international community to adopt effective measures for stopping the US in this regard.
Earlier, the Sialkot district bar association also passed many resolutions to condemn the US for globally harassing and targeting the Muslim countries.
SHOT DEAD: A poultry farm owner was shot dead and his companion injured seriously by two unidentified armed dacoits near Mundeyki Beriyan (Badiana) in Pasrur Tehsil, late Friday night.
According to the FIR, poultry farm owner, Mohammad Shakil, and Abdul Razzaq, residents of Hajipura, Sialkot city, were going to Chawinda, when their vehicle was stopped by dacoits, who had set up a picket on the road.
When they tried to put resistance, the dacoits opened fire on them, killing Mr Shakil on the spot and injuring Mr Razzaq. The killers fled away firing in the air.
The injured was admitted to the Pasrur THQ hospital in critical condition.
In another incident, near Dhutal village (Ugoki), three unidentified armed dacoits snatched a motorcycle (STL-6645) and Rs22,300 in cash from traders Mohammad Naeem and Mohammad Saleem.
NO POWER SUPPLY: As many as 20 of Walipur Bora union council’s 26 villages in Shakargarh Tehsil have no power supply.
UC Nazim Majid Khan told newsmen that there was no boys and girls school in the UC and students had to go to far-off villages for getting education.
He urged Gepco chief executive Brig Saifullah Khalid to provide electricity to the 20 villages at the earliest.
