KARACHI, Feb 20: Ten-time British Open champion and President of the World Squash Federation Jahangir Khan, expressed his deepest condolences on the death of Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir.

Jahangir said that he was absolutely shocked to hear the tragic news.

“During his tenure as President of the PSF, he did a lot in promoting squash in the country”, said the former world No.1, adding that he even purchased a portable glass court which is now installed in Islamabad.

“A great fan of squash, Mushaf Ali Mir’s death came as a great blow for Pakistan squash a game he promoted with plenty of local and foreign tournaments.

Roshan Khan, Jahangir’s father, a former British Open champion grieved the death of the Air Marshal.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Islamabad: Former British Open champion Qamar Zaman said Mushaf’s death was a big loss. “I met him only on Saturday and told him that If I were the president I wouldn’t be able to contribute to squash as much as he had been able to do,” Qamar said from Peshawar. “His death is a big loss.”

Meanwhile, Brig Saulat Abbas, the director general of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) termed the tragedy as a national loss.

“Mushaf’s contribution to squash will never be forgotten,” he said and added that the vacuum left by his death would be difficult to fill.

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: Punjab Squash Association expressed condolences over the death of Mushaf.

The PSA meeting, also attended by players, offered Fateha for the deceased.
