LAHORE, Feb 18: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi directed on Tuesday the establishment of a special cell for the guidance and counselling of overseas Pakistanis interested in investment in the country.

He gave the direction during a meeting with a delegation at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Kashmiri and Pakistani Councillors Association chairman Ahmad Shehzad and France-based leading investor Muhammad Bashir led the delegation comprising Kashmiri and Pakistani councillors and representatives of other organizations in Europe.

The chief minister said the proposed cell would also suggest legislation regarding the protection to investment by the expatriates. It was the duty of the government to protect the hard earned money of the expatriates, he said.

The cell would provide guidance to the overseas Pakistanis regarding the establishment of cottage, small, medium and large scale industry in the country.

The chief minister appreciated the services being rendered to the country by the expatriates and said their homeland demanded further sacrifices from them. They could present the Pakistani case to the world in a better way in view of the current global scenario, he said.

He asked the delegation members to give suggestions regarding the further participation of the overseas Pakistanis in the progress of the country.

Earlier, the members of the delegation urged the need for making missions to other countries more effective to counter foreign propaganda against Pakistan.
