SUKKUR, Feb 18: Hundreds of Golo tribesmen blocked the Indus Highway, near Kandhkot, for several hours in protest against two revenue officials on Tuesday.

They blocked the highway by putting the body of a farmer in the middle of the road alleging that he was killed due to being tortured by the revenue officials in the Pai Rab village, near Kashmore.

The villagers said that the revenue officials, Nazir Banghwar and Mushtaque Balkani, went to the Pai Rab village to collect water tax from a farmer, Pir Khan Golo. However, soon an argument started between both.

They said that he told the revenue officials that at the moment he would be unable to pay the government his dues but the revenue officials insisted that the dues be cleared right there and then. They said that they took him in a car to their office and allegedly tortured him, and added that he succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

The TPO, Kandhkot and Kashmore, and other senior officials arrived at the spot where the villagers were protesting and assured them that a case would be registered against the culprits and they would be arrested within 48 hours.
