KARACHI, Feb 17: Chief Secretary K. B. Rind has said that an ideal law and order is the key to the development and prosperity of the province and its height is reflective in the integrity of the country.

His remarks came at a meeting with the prominent artist, Zohaib Hassan, who called on him in his office here on Monday to discuss the holding of Sindh Sea Festival 2003 starting from Feb 20.

Mr Rind said that a new strategy to ensure peace and harmony in the province was being evolved with the participation of religious scholars, politicians, intelligentsia, artists and social welfare workers. He expressed the hope that the provincial administration would succeed in accomplishing the task under the leadership and guidance of President Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The CS asserted that all necessary measure were being taken to curb terrorism. He said that the provincial government was alive to the gravity of situation but law enforcing agencies were fully alert and working day and night to meet any untoward incident. He said citizens should avail their services and extend cooperation to them in establishing peace.

Mr Rind pointed out that any citizen in trouble may seek police help by dialling ‘15’ (Helpline) and in case of any complaint against the Helpline service, police officer, police station, etc. the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), IG Sindh, Home Secretary and Chief Secretary were available on phone nos. 9212652-3, 9212626-7, 9211259 & 9211355, 9202090 & 9212949-50 respectively at any time.

The chief secretary said that the strategy devised by the Home Department and police officers for the peaceful holding of the festival was being reviewed further and made more stringent to ensure peace at all costs.—PPI
