KARACHI: Eidul Azha celebrations in Karachi

KARACHI, Feb 14: Like elsewhere, the people in Karachi, celebrated Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday with religious fervour and enthusiasm.

The day dawned with special prayers at all the mosques and Eidgahs for the welfare of the Muslims.

The Ulema and scholars highlighted the significance of the day in their sermons and paid homage to Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who under divine command sacrificed his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS).

Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul-Ibad offered Eid prayers at Jinnah Ground. After prayers, the governor exchanged Eid greetings with the people. Mr Ibad also met the dignitaries and general public.

The city police with the assistance of law enforcing agencies manned all the sensitive mosques of the city to prevent any act of terrorism. Extra police force was deployed at Eidgahs and other sensitive areas of the city.

The rangers also maintained a check on all picnic and entertainment points at Defence and Clifton area.—APP
