VEHARI, Feb 8: Mailsi police claim to have arrested an activist of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi from Mailsi suburbs late Friday night.
Police said Muhammad Rafique was the accomplice of Talha and Abdul Haq who had already been killed in an encounter in Bahawalpur last year.
Initial interrogation revealed that Rafique was also involved in the Bahawalpur Church attack and half a dozen dacoity incidents. He was also wanted by Mailsi police in various cases. He was shifted to some unknown place for further interrogation. Police also recovered weapons from his possession. Earlier, Rafique had escaped from police custody which was not disclosed.
FOUND HANGED: The body of a senior member of the Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association was found from his office at Shaheen Market here on Saturday.
Some neighbours knocked at the door of Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, but they did not get any response. On suspicion, they broke open the door and found Yaqoob hanged. The police sent the body to the local DHQ Hospital for autopsy. Police also informed his family members and relatives in Sahiwal.
