FAISALABAD, Feb 8: There is no respite from the incidents of dacoity and highway robbery in the city and its adjoining areas despite setting up of special police pickets.

During the last 24 hours, outlaws made off with millions of rupees in cash, gold and hijacked a car, a truck and four motorcycles in 12 different strikes in both residential and commercial areas.

Four masked robbers snatched ornaments worth Rs500,000, a wristwatch, a cell phone and Rs15,000 in cash from jeweller Muhammad Idrees in Samanabad when he was on his way home after closing his shop.

Two bandits looted Rs60,000 in cash, ornaments and other valuables from the inmates of a house of Muhammad Ilyas in Anarkali Bazaar of Factory Area police station.

A gang of robbers snatched cash and gold worth Rs100,000 from the family members of villager Muhammad Anwar in the limits of Awagat of police station, Jaranwala.

Three armed outlaws looted Rs200,000 in cash and ornaments from the house of a commission agent, Nawab Din, in Chak 247 in the jurisdiction of Dijkot police station.

Masked bandits deprived the sweet shop owner, Malik Nazir, of thousands of rupees in cash at gunpoint in Lundianwala.

A gang of highwaymen snatched a truck loaded with cotton bales from driver Muhammad Afzal near Chak 237 in the area of police station, Saddar.

Thieves took away cash, gold and prize bonds worth Rs400,000 from the house of Ilyas Ahmed in Peoples Colony.

Unidentified bandits hijacked a car (FDZ-2244) of a local trade, Rahat Ahmed, in Rail Bazaar.

Two armed bandits snatched a two-wheeler (FDX-4856) from a student, Junaid Ahmad, on the Faisalabad-Satiana Road.

Vehicle lifters took away a motorcycle (FDT-1797) of Muhammad Shahbaz from Canal Road and another two-wheeler (MNS-2725) of Naveed Ahmed from Batala Colony.

A shopkeeper, Shahzad, was relieved of his motorcycle (FDY-3695) by vehicles lifters in Montgomery Bazaar.
