Ten injured in tribal clash

KHAIRPUR, Feb 8: Ten persons were injured after the Hajano and the Rind tribesmen clashed in Mithri village near Kot Diji on Friday night over a piece of land.

The injured include Madah Hussain, Ghulam Sarwar, Kifayat Hussain, Asif Ali, Waheed Ali, Mohammad Hanif, Pehalwan Ali, Imdad Ali and Allah Rakhio.

The injured were later admitted to a local hospital.

MOTORBIKE SNATCHED: Some unidentified armed men on Friday night snatched a motorcycle from Ali Gohar Channa near Sobhodero.

The armed men also robbed him of cash and other valuable items.

Bridge collapses: A bridge, built over the Thari Mirwah- Setharja road, collapsed on Saturday, effectively blocking the vehicular traffic.

People, including leaders of the local bus drivers’ union, staged a sit-in Thari Mirwah and demanded of the authorities to reconstruct the bridge on a priority basis.

Five booked: A murder case has been registered at the Babarloi police station in Khairpur taluka against five persons in the killing of a student of Xth class, Baqir Ali Maitlo.

Those, who have been nominated in the FIR on Friday, include Ghulam Hussain, Ghulam Shabbir, Jamil Ahmed, Altaf Hussain and an unidentified person.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested one of the accused, Ghulam Hussain.

According to the police, the long-standing dispute over a piece of land between the two factions of the Maitlo tribe had resulted in the murder of Baqir at the Pir Bakhsh Maitlo village the other day.

FIRE: The house of a local councillor, Pir Bakhsh Narejo, was reduced to ashes on Thursday.

According to reports, some unidentified miscreants had set his buffalo pen on fire at Thatti village near Sobhodero.

Meanwhile, five houses, belonging to the Meghwar community, also caught fire on Thursday night in the Bagh Bachraho.
