LAHORE, Feb 7: The Jashn-i-Baharan Cup, a class I, II and III combined handicap race, features the six-event card drawn for the 19th Lahore Winter Meeting to be held on Saturday.
Two other cup events, the Basant Cup and the Qutub-ud-Din Aibak Cup will also be held.
The meeting scheduled for Sunday has been advanced by a day due to Basant festival.
The feature event, the Jashn-i-Baharan Cup, a class I, II and III handicap race to be contested over 1800m has nine runners barring last-minute withdrawals.
On top is the four-year-old filly Feel The Freedom. This brilliant daughter of King Of Saxony out-of-Young Madonna has won three back-to-back races including Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Cup and the 1000 Guineas Of Pakistan.
She is likely to have three seasoned runners as her main challengers like Great Grandy, Blu’s Wendy and Millennium Count.
The supporting event, the Basant Cup, a class IV division I to be contested over 1800 metres has only six runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.
The chestnut Snoopy, is a cut above in class vis-a-vis his five rivals, who all are immature runners and may not stand the gruelling distance. Although, a tubed horse, Snoopy had been improving with each of his running and should pick up the spoils. The handicap favours the blue-roan filly Prime Force.
The Qutub-ud-Din Aibak Cup to be run over 1400m has a-dozen acceptors. Of them three come into reckoning, namely, Royal Falcon, Moment To Moment and Prince Khurrum. The first race will be held at 1pm.
