SUKKUR, Feb 6: Two people, including a dacoit, were killed when nine dacoits barged into a house whose residents offered resistance in Khanpur, Shikarpur district, on Wednesday night.
The dacoits barged into the courtyard of one Unnar Shar and tried to steal his cattle. However, the residents woke up and offered resistance.
Soon both started exchanging fire as a result of which Unnar’s son, Abdul Rahim, was killed while Mr Unnar and two of his cousins, Mehboob and Nooruddin, were injured.
Sources said that during the exchange of fire one of the dacoits, Habibullah, was also killed.
An FIR was registered against the nine dacoits — Gul Hassan, Sohrab, Lal Dino, Jahano, A. Dino, Habibullah and three others whose names could not be ascertained.
Later, tribesmen blocked the Indus Highway between Khanpur and Kandhkot for two hours.
The police arrived there and assured the protesters that all culprits would be arrested within 48 hours.
MAN KILLED: A man, Abdul Haq, was gunned down by armed men in the Amil Abad village in a dispute over land on Thursday.
Police registered a case against Mir Hasan, Ali Khan and three others.
HOSTAGE RELEASED: Three men — Bashir Ahmed Soomro, Mohammad Yaseen, and Dil Sher Lakhan were released by their kidnappers from the forest area of Naudero after a deal with the police on Thursday.
The two men had been kidnapped by the gang of dacoit Babu Jatoi from Drakhan near Ratodero.
