WASHINGTON, Feb 6: The Indian army is to send a brigade of special forces troops to Israel for anti-insurgency warfare training designed to help them fight Mujahideen in occupied Kashmir.
An American news agency, United Press International, reported that as many as 3,500 Indian soldiers will go to Israel for the training.
The Israeli training course includes counter-infiltration tactics and “preventive force” missions. The Israeli army specializes in such tactics and frequently uses them in incursions into Palestinian areas.
The training deal comes along with a $30 million arms deal for special equipment including light weapons, secure radio links, specialist stun grenades.
