SUKKUR, Feb 5: People belonging to Jacobabad, Thul, Kashmore, Kandhkot and Garhi Khairo, along with workers of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party staged rallies in Jacobabad and all the taluka headquarters against Hesco officials for issuing inflated detection bills.
Protesters also staged token hunger strikes in front of the respective press clubs besides staging demonstrations in front of Hesco offices.
They accused Hesco officials of issuing individual detection bills worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, besides resorting to five to eight-hour-long load shedding to cover the line losses.
STPP leaders threatened to stage a march from Jacobabad to Rojhan Jamali, the hometown of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, if the detection bills were not withdrawn by then.
They said that the march would be led by the taluka nazim of Jacobabad, Mir Mumtaz Ali Jakhrani.
Our Jacobabad Correspondent Adds: Mr Jakhrani assured the protesters regarding the transfer of Wapda officials, saying that if their demands were not met, he would also participate in the march.
MAN KILLED: M. Ibrahim, belonging to Jamal Domki village, was killed and M. Jamil Bhangwar was injured on Tuesday when they offered resistance to bandits who were trying to steal their cattlehead.
