RAWALPINDI, Feb 4: Gordon College would be provided a grant of Rs6.5 million for repair of the roof of the hostel and construction of additional classrooms, said District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiyani here on Tuesday.
Addressing the annual sports day ceremony at the college, Tariq Kiani said the district government would release the grant for this purpose soon after their release by the Punjab government.
He announced a separate grant of Rs0.4 million for the purchase of college furniture and directed the works and services department to prepare an estimate for increasing the height of the boundary wall of the college so that funds could be allocated in this regard in the next fiscal budget.
Mr Kiyani said the district government was ready to set up a dispensary in the college provided the college administration agreed to spare some space for this purpose. He said a canteen was being started in the college in collaboration with a private company.
Meanwhile, speaking at a function at Government Degree College for Girls, Mohanpura, in connection with the Cleanliness Week, Raja Tariq Kiani exhorted the girl students not only to make cleanliness part of their life but also persuade the others not to throw away garbage in streets and drains.
“It is our bounden duty to keep our environment neat and clean and dispose of garbage at proper place.”
He promised the college would be provided furniture and other necessary materials on priority basis to facilitate the students concentrate better ontheir attention on their studies.
