KARACHI, Feb 2: Speakers at a demonstration on Sunday warned the authorities against providing any assistance to the United States in its possible aggression against Iraq.

They were speaking at the demonstration organized at the Empress Market in Saddar jointly by the labour unions, political parties, and representatives of the youth. A large number of women, children, workers and others participated.

They said the real motive behind the United States aggression against Iraq was to take possession and control the Iraq’s vast oil deposits.

They said that now the workers and poor masses of all the countries were joining hands to resist the imperialist agenda of controlling the resources of the poor countries and the people around the world would not allow the United States and its allied forces to invade and control Iraq and other countries and convert them into their colonies by appointing their puppets as rulers.

The participants were raising slogans some of which were: “Down with American imperialism”; “War for oil not accepted”; etc. They were carrying banners in support of peace and against war.

The demonstration was organized by the National Trade Union Federation, the Education Foundation, the Ittehad Labour Carpet Union, the Progressive Youth Front, the Women Workers Helpline and the Awami Ittehad Welfare Committee.
