LAHORE, Feb 1: The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has urged the government to buy the surplus stocks of sugar to protect the farmers’ interests.

PSMA’s Punjab Chairman Javed Kayani said in a statement that the sugar mills were bound to crush the entire sugarcane produce irrespective of its quality through a legal restraint.

The industry was made to pay for dead weight and not quality at the rate of Rs40 per 40 kilogrammes.
