KARACHI, Feb 1: Four young men and a police constable were shot dead in the city on Saturday.
A 32-year-old man was shot dead in Joharabad police limits.
The police said Affanullah, resident of Block-14 in Federal B Area, hit his car (A-1676) against an electricity pole near the Federal B Area post office and died. The police reached the spot and found that the young man was shot dead. He had a bullet wound in his back.
The police suspected that Affan was affiliated with a jihadi outfit. However, initial investigations so far had not established his link with any jihadi organization, said Manzoor Mughal, the SSP Investigation.
A policeman was shot dead near his house in Al-Asif Square in Gulzar-i- Hijri police limits.
The police said Sharif Ahmed, aged 50, posted at Sachal police station, was stepping down the stairs from his second floor apartment in Al-Asif Square, when unidentified men shot him and ran away.
The police said a 20-year-old man, Fahim Qadir, was shot dead at the doorstep of his house in Mohammedi Colony.
Bandits shot a young man to death at the traffic signal in Malir Halt.
The police said Habibullah, who owned a shop at Malir Halt, was going somewhere on his motorcycle. As he stopped at the traffic signal, two bandits held him at gunpoint and ordered him to get off the motorcycle. When Habibullah put up resistance to the bandits, they dragged him off the motorcycle. Azhar Husain, aged 20, a passerby, also put up resistance to the bandits, who shot him and drove off the motorcycle.
