KARACHI, Jan 31: Former senator and senior vice-president of the Millat Party, Javed Jabbar, has questioned the remarks made by the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr Jabbar, referring to the news item “Lawyers say LFO not part of Constitution” (Dawn, Tuesday), said that the allegation made by the SCBA president at a press conference in Islamabad on Monday had no basis.
“At no point was there any contact between me and the government with regard to my decision to challenge the LFO,” the statement quoted him as having said and added: “The decision to challenge the disqualification for election to the Senate, announced by the government on Oct 29, 2002, was taken entirely by myself.”
