KARACHI, Jan 30: Six ships carrying containers, crude oil and soyabean oil are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was fairly brisk as the KPT authorities accommodated all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berths. Eight ships, which got berths included PONL Thekwini, Hyundai Future, Kota Terjau, Oriental Bright, and Al-Wajba, which unload and load containers, Botany Treasure, to unload tallow, Eminka to load ethanol and Ievoli Shine to offload chemicals.
Five ships, PONL Thekwini, APL Jeddah, Botany Treasure, NCC Najd and Alcyonida departed, while Kota Teraju, Al-Wajba, Arcturus, Eminka and Banglar Kallol are due to sail out on Friday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where the total tonnage handled rose to 76,897 tons comprising 28,083 tons of export cargo and 48,814 tons of import cargo was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Shirvan, Sorena, with 61,500 and 69,000 tons of crude oil, Elona, with 3,000 tons of soyabean oil, Lode Star Grace, with chemicals, Wan Hai-305 and Kota Berani, with containers.
