HYDERABAD, Jan 29: A large number of house job doctors of the Liaquat Medical University Hospital Jamshoro on Wednesday boycotted their work and held a protest demonstration against the non-payment of their increased salaries and denial of medical facilities to the patients.

They held a three-hour sit-in at the main gate of the hospital and raised slogans against the hospital management.

Addressing the rally, Dr Hidayatullah, Dr Azhar Ali Rajpar, and Dr Sanaullah among others said that it was absolutely illegal to withhold the increased salaries of the house job doctors.

They alleged that the poor patients were not being provided medicines and they were being persuaded to go to private laboratories for medical tests.

A heavy contingent of police arrived there. The TPO, Kotri, Manzoor Khatiyan, assured the protesters that their problems would be resolved within 24 hours.

LOWER STAFF: Lower staff employees of the education department on Wednesday held a protest demonstration outside the press club against the arrest of 36 employees including the central president of the All Sindh Lower Staff Association, Darya Khan Jamali, and its general secretary, Mohammad Akram Khaskheli, in Sukkur.

Addressing the rally, Wazir Ahmed Keerio, Ghulam Rasool Soomro, and Abdul Jabbar Pirzada condemned the arrest and torture of the leaders of the All Sindh Lower Staff Association in Sukkur.

They warned that if the arrested leaders and workers were not released, a series of protest demonstrations and hunger strikes would be held throughout the province.

SPLA: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has condemned the arrest and torture of the office bearers of the All Sindh Lower Staff Association in Sukkur.

In a joint statement, the leader of the SPLA, Prof Liaquat Aziz and others said that the leaders of the lower staff had been arrested on the insistence of an EDO (education), Sukkur, Prof Mrs Rafia Pathan.
