PESHAWAR, Jan 28: Teachers working at Water and Power Development Authority schools have appealed to the chairman to regularize their jobs.
These teachers have been working on a daily-wage basis for almost a decade. Despite repeated requests, their services have not been regularized.
Sources said that most of the teachers were not appointed on contract because they had crossed the age-limit for service while serving at the Wapda school.
“When I joined as a teacher I was not overage. I started on the daily-wage basis in the hope that one day my job would be regularized and the period of my service would be counted,” a teacher told Dawn.
So far, teachers have appeared twice in test and interview held to make appointments on the contract basis. But many were not even called for the test and the interview.
