Girls clinch top three positions in BA, BSc

QUETTA, Jan 26: Girl students of science group clinched the top three positions according to the BA and BSc annual examination, 2002, announced by the Balochistan University on Sunday.

The controller of examinations of the university, Dr Masoom Yasinzai, speaking at a press conference said Shagufta Jaffar, roll No.13557, got the first position securing 571 marks while the second position was shared by Anbar Noreen, roll No.373 and Sediqa Abdul Ghani, roll No.744, with 566 marks. The third position went to Fatima Anwar, roll No.765, with 558 marks.

Farha Hamayun, roll No.6754, remained first in the Bachelor of Arts, getting 539 marks, while Qudsia Haider, roll No.3263, got the second position securing 532 marks. The third position was obtained by Saima Nawaz, roll No.3263, and Sanam Iqbal, roll No.6744, with 527 marks.

The controller said 1,767 candidates appeared in the BSc examination of whom 977 were successful. The pass percentage remained 55.29.

In the BA examination, 3,941 of the 7,567 candidates were declared pass and the percentage remained 52.06.

Permission from the academic council of the university was being obtained for doing away with the third division and making obtaining of second division essential for passing an examination, he said.

The controller said the university had introduced the codification system and arranged centralized marking of the papers to ensure fairness.

He said that for the elimination of the use of unfair means it had been decided that all examinations conducted by the university would be held in its premises.

He said that in future the university would announce the dates of all examinations on Jan 1 of every year.
