KARACHI, Nov 25: A four-wheel vehicle of the UN’s World Food Programme was hijacked by three unidentified bandits in Gulzar-i-Hijri on Sunday.
The procurement officer of the World Food Programme, Faqir Mohammed Lakho, was returning in the vehicle (X-68-135) from Thatta after dropping off the driver. When he reached near the Gulzar-i-Hijri police checkpost, three armed men intercepted him and boarded the vehicle. They drove the vehicle towards Nipa, and blindfolded the procurement officer, and later they dropped him off some 500 yards from Buraq petrol pump on Super Highway and escaped.
The vehicle hijackers also took away with Rs2,500, several official files and a mobile phone.
