Qaiser grabs crown

ISLAMABAD, Jan 20: Qaiser Ansari claimed the net title in Invitational Golf Tournament organised by Pakistan Tobacco Company at the Islamabad Club on Sunday.

Sharyar Khan and PQ Mehdi finished second and third respectively, the top three positions being decided on a countback after the trio collected identical scores of 66.

Tariq Mahmood took the gross honours with a score of 68 with Taimur Hasan (71) in second place and Abbas Mirza third.

In the ladies net competition, Rani Attique finished first carding 66 while Sheila Michael was second (69) and Rubab Haider took third place with 72.

Mrs Zafar Taji, Mrs Schacher and Mrs Naveed Aftab were the winners of the ladies putting competition for non-golfers.

Nearly 150 golfers took part in the tournament that is organised every year by PTC. Four cars were on offer for hole in one for each of the par three holes but no one proved lucky.

Mohib Asad, Director General of FIA, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated PTC’s efforts in promoting golf and its social service programmes.

Top PTC executives including the company’s Managing Director Jeremy Pike, Deputy Managing Director Aslam Khaliq, Leaf Director Alan Schacher and Corporate Affairs manager Naveed Aftab Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
