KARACHI, Jan 13: The People’s Party Parliamentarians announced on Monday that its candidate, Rujhanullah Afridi, from NA-242 Karachi in Jan 15 by- election, has retired from the contest in favour of the Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal.

The PPP appealed to people to vote for MMA candidate Merajul Huda Siddiqui.

The PML (N) also announced its support to the MMA candidate.

PPP Karachi President Muzaffar Ali Shujra announced the decision on the withdrawal of the PPP candidate from the election contest at a joint press conference at the Jamaat-i-Islami head office. PPP candidate Rujhanullah Afridi, MMA candidate Merajul Huda Siddiqui, MMA MNA Abdul Sattar Afghani and other leaders were also present at the press conference.

Mr Shujra said their decision to withdraw the PPP candidate from the contest had the support of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto.—PPI
