HYDERABAD, Jan 13: A ceremony to launch an audio cassette and CD, “Gaye Banwra Gaye”, of Mazhar Hussain and Zulfiqar Ali, was held at the Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium, Sindh Museum, here the other day.

Speaking on the occasion, noted poet Imdad Hussaini said that the people would have to strive for promotion of their culture.

He said that the two brothers, Hussain and Ali, were the exponents of the Gawaliyar school of music and their father, Niaz Hussain, and their uncle, Fida Hussain, were also renowned artistes.

He said that the young vocalists had upheld the tradition of their forefathers as well as that of Gawaliyar music.

The mother of the singers said that she was proud that her sons had not only kept the family name alive but they had also received proper education.

The director general, culture department, Gul Mohammad Umrani said that Rs40 million had been earmarked to set up a music academy at Karachi for training vocalists and instrumentalists.
