PSDE annual meeting

ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: The 18th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Pakistan Society of Development Economists (PSDE) will be held here from January 13 to 15.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance, Economic Affairs and Planning, Shaukat Aziz will deliver the inaugural address. The theme of the seminar is: “Regulation, Competition and Information”.

A significant feature of the PSDE seminar this year, according to the programme, will be a session on “The Economic Vision of Allama Muhammad Iqbal” to be held on Jan 15. With Rafiq Ahmad, Professor Emeritus, as the main speaker, the great poet- philosopher’s son, Dr Javed Iqbal, former Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, will preside.

A regular feature of PSDE seminar is “The Iqbal Memorial Lecture”. Its theme this year is: “Is Globalization Inclusive of the Poor: Let’s Make It”.

Dr Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission will deliver the Quaid-I-Azam Memorial Lecture. His theme will be: “New Issues in Banking Regulation”.
