PCB should sack Waqar and Pybus: Intikhab

KARACHI, Jan 7: Former Pakistan captain and coach Intikhab Alam has called for accountability on Pakistan’s poor show in South Africa said captain, coach and senior batsmen — Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana — must be questioned.

“The blame squarely lies on captain and the coach and when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is doing experiments after experiments they should do one more before the World Cup and sack coach and captain,” Intikhab told sportsmasala.com.

“Youhana and Inzamam need a kick at their back over the way they played in the second Test, they were very very irresponsible and played for themselves,” Intikhab said.

Pakistan lost both the Tests in South Africa after losing the one-day series 4-1.

Youhana played a brisk knock of 50 off just 27 balls but was out in an indiscreet manner and failed to stay at the crease to avert defeat.

“Such senior players have no justification to play like this when the team was in a difficult situation and now its time they sacrifice something for the team. Inzamam must come at number three because he is capable for that, Younis Khan is never a number three,” opined Intikhab.

Intikhab said Pakistan must change its plans before the World Cup. “The way the team played smack of lack of professionalism, knowledge of the game and planning.”
