RAWALPINDI, Jan 7: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sayyed Pervez Ali Shah on Tuesday awarded death sentence to a convicted murderer and a fine of Rs100,000 that would go as compensation to the family of the murdered man.
According to the RA Bazaar police, the convict Saghir had shot dead his friend Azeem at a body building club after exchange of harsh words over a petty issue.
Meanwhile, Judge of Anti-Terrorist Court Number II Safdar Hussain Malik remanded a deputy forest officer (DFO) and his younger brother in police custody for four days. The DFO, Imdad, and his brother, Shafqat, had shot at two persons including a general councillor in the district courts causing them injuries.
The injured, Mirza Mukhtar Ahmad and Bakhtiar Ahmad, were present in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Akram Awan during the hearing of the murder case of the DFO’s brother as the opponent party, when all of a sudden the accused opened fire at them, which caused stampede in the court.
However, the court staff overpowered both the accused and took away their pistols before handing them over to the Civil Lines police.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Qazi Waqarul Hasan issued summoned notices to the deputy superintendent police (DSP) New Town and the station house officer (SHO) of Sadiqabad police station in a contempt of court case.
The DSP, Maqsood and SHO Raja Taufeeq were not handing over a car to Raja Naeem Ahmad despite that the Superdari of the car had been granted to the latter by the same court. Mr Ahmad filed a contempt case against the DSP and the SHO.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmad rejected the bail application of five people including two women, who were accused of adultery. The accused Ashraf, Samiur Rehman, Attiq Ahmad and (F) and (K) had been arrested by the Waras Khan police for committing robbery.
The same court also rejected the case of a runner-up candidate for general councillor, Fateh Jhang Tehsil, Haji Amir Afzal. The petitioner had appealed to the court for re-counting, but failed to furnish any proof with the court to substantiate the charge of rigging against his opponent Hafiz Attaullah.
The judge of the family court, Mrs Saema Zahoor, summoned the administrator and the contractor of the district council to the court on Jan 20. According to the civil suit filed by a person, Khalid Dad, both the accused were allegedly involved in embezzlement.
The same court also issued summon notices to an army major for not paying alimony to his former wife. According to the case filed by Shazia, her former husband Maj Hamid Riaz Minhas was allegedly not providing her alimony.
The same court also ordered attachment of the property of Ahmad Ali for refusing dowry to his ex-wife, Robina, despite that the latter had got a decree from the same court.
