MULTAN, Jan 7: Tenants of various state-owned farms in the Punjab have submitted their applications for the purchase of lands which are under their tenantship.

According to a press release of Anjuman Mazareen Punjab, the government had sought applications for the sale of state land in Khanewal, Okara, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Layyah, Depalpur and Pakpattan (notification No 40-2001/2131-L-11, dated 1-11-2002).

AMP Secretary-General Dr Christopher John has said that the official price of Rs2,000 per production unit was too high for the poor tenants.

He reiterated the Anjuman demand that the tenants should be given ownership rights free of cost. He also urged the government to include Lahore district in the scheme.

ARTS COUNCIL: The executive committee of the Punjab Council of the Arts has constituted governing body for the Multan Arts Council.

According to the press note, Multan DCO will be the chairman of governing body while all the executive district officers (EDOs) posted in the district, district information officer, station director of Radio Pakistan and a representative of the PTV will be its official members.

The non-official members will be Syed Ishtiaq Jaffary, Dr. Aslam Ansari, Qaisar Naqvi, Zulfiqar Bhatti, Malik Ashiq Naqash and Surraya Multanikar.

The governing body has been constituted for one year and resident director of the arts council will be it secretary.
