ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: Minister for Information and Media Development Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said Pakistan had been put on the road to progress and the government was striving for a social and economic revolution.
Speaking at a public gathering at Pandora Chowk, he said results of government’s efforts for the welfare of public would become evident.
He said stock exchange had touched its highest-ever level in a very short span of time which was reflective of the investors’ confidence in the government. The government’s stability would give further impetus to the economic activity, he added.
The minister said the government was framing policies for the prosperity and betterment of the poor who had been ignored in the past.
He said policies would be formulated to generate employment opportunities for the jobless so that quality of life could be improved. He said the government would serve every citizen irrespective of his religious and ethnic affiliations and provide him maximum benefit at his doorstep. He reiterated his commitment to fight hunger, poverty and unemployment in the country.
Sheikh Rashid said Rs800 million would be spent on the development projects in the city.
