KARACHI, Jan 1: Two ships carrying containers and to load naphtha are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where five ships were allotted berths: They are: Kota Berani, Med Keelung, and Sinar Bontang to offload and load containers, Stolt Alliance and Stolt Integrity to unload chemicals.

Sailing was also brisk as seven ships, Izumo, Beauty River, APL Portugal, Kota Teguh, Kota Berani, Auralia and Stolt Alliance departed, while Stolt Integrity and Manking are due to sail out on Thursday.

Berth occupancy fell to 26 per cent on the dry wharves but maintained on the higher side at 50 per cent at the oil piers thanks to steady calling made by the tankers.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 59,012 tons comprising 24,079 tons of export cargo including 2,387 tons of rice and 34,933 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Storm Lady to load 25,000 tons of naphtha and Al-Ihsaa, with containers.

KARACHI, Jan 1: Two ships carrying general cargo and furnace oil were allotted berths at Marginal Wharf and Fotco Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another three ships scheduled to load/offload containers and chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Five ships, Isadora, Flagtom, Maria Bottiglireri, Emerald Star and Royal Ocean were busy in offloading general cargo, furnace oil and coal.

A cargo volume of 54,312 tons exclusively of import was handled.

Three ships, Msc Maeva, Er Albany and Chem Star King were due to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal.
