In-form Shabbir takes five-stroke lead

KARACHI, Dec 28: Shabbir Iqbal maintained his fine form to take five-stroke lead on the third day of the 35th Caltex Open Golf Championship played at Karachi Golf Club on Saturday.

With an under par round of 70 Shabbir leads the field having three rounds aggregate of 210, five shots ahead of M.Munir who also carded a two-under par 70 to be tied with Amjad Yousuf for the second spot.

Shahid Javed Khan remained unchallenged as he strengtened his grip over as the top amateur by leading the field by four strokes despite having a poor third round of 76. After 54 holes Shahid has a score of 215.

M. Shafiq is leading the senior professionals category played over 36 holes. His 71 puts him five shots clear of Shaukat Ali and Akbar Ali who are joint second.

Punjab with an aggregate score of 672 are well infront of the Federal team 18 strokes. Sindh and NWFP are out of contention.
