LAHORE, Dec 27: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool urged on Friday the need to discourage those perpetrating atrocities against innocent people all over the world, and to provide justice to every nation so as to further the international drive against terrorism.
During a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador Ahmad Razza El-Salman who called on him at the Governor’s House, Mr Maqbool said by supporting the drive against terrorism, Pakistan had allowed the world powers to detect terrorism without bias against any religion or nation.
He said the world should consider the reasons which generated terrorism. No religion allowed excesses against innocent people. “We have to struggle against tyranny and injustice whether it was in the shape of terrorism by an organization or state terrorism in Palestine or Kashmir.”
He said every Pakistani prayed for the welfare of the innocent Palestinians.
The Palestinian ambassador said it was the liberation struggle of Palestinians which forced the world powers to seek an acceptable way of restoring peace to the Middle East.
He regretted that the Israeli prime minister was opposing a roadmap by the UN for peace in Palestine. He was doing so in anticipation of the diversion of the world attention from Israeli atrocities against Palestinians after the heightening of tensions between America and Iraq.
