KARACHI, Dec 24: Younus Khan, a leader of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement and the party’s only MPA, was sent on Tuesday to jail by a judicial magistrate.
The Haqiqi leader, arrested on Dec 10 for his alleged involvement in the murder of a cab driver in July this year, was produced in the court of the JM, Malir, Abdul Quddoos Memon, amid tight security by police, who sought further remand of the suspect.
The magistrate, however, rejected the police request for the custody of the MPA and ordered the jail authorities to produce him in the court on Dec 28.
Party chief Afaq Ahmed and secretary-general Amir Khan are among the absconders in the case.
The case pertained to the killing of driver Kafiluddin and wounding of his passenger, Rafiqun Nisa, in a firing incident in the police limits of Malir City.
A team of lawyers held a meeting with Younus Khan with the permission of the court.
NBW: An additional district and sessions judge, Central, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of DSP Aslam Chaudhry, who has not appeared in the court despite several notices.
The police officer, who is stated to have been the investigation officer in as many as 52 cases, was required by the court for his evidence.
The judge also ordered the town police officer to withhold the salary of the DSP and ensure his appearance in the court on Jan 7.
