KARACHI, Dec 24: The sales tax refund process is being streamlined and delays are being minimized accordingly.
An assurance to this effect was given by Ramzan Bhatti, member, sales tax CBR, in a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA).
The delegation, led by PLGMEA chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan, discussed with Bhatti various problems being faced by PLGMEA members regarding the sales tax.
A PLGMEA statement said the organization felt that the consumption of wastage of various inputs used in production of leather garments as allowed by the government were ‘unrealistic’ and much below the actual incurred by the exporters.
It was suggested by the member sales tax that Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association should consult IOCO for fixation of consumption and wastage of different inputs used in the production of leather garments.
The delegation stressed upon Bhatti to expedite the sales tax refund of PLGMEA members as they were already facing liquidity crisis.—APP
