BAHAWALPUR, Dec 21: The government is contemplating to announce uplift packages for all cities and districts in the southern Punjab.
This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while talking to newsmen on Saturday at the Bahawalpur airport after his arrival from Lahore.
He said the government would give priority to welfare projects particularly the provision of potable water to Cholistan and other areas.
In addition, the government would set up industrial estates at Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan where the establishment of small and medium scale industry would be encouraged to eliminate unemployment, he said.
About the law and order situation in the Punjab, the chief minister said the police would be provided funds necessary to change the police culture.
Also the Punjab PML-Q chief, Pervaiz Elahi confirmed that his party had awarded the ticket for NA-187 (Bahawalpur five) to Syed Tasneem Nawaz Gardezi.
The chief minister said the government would provide land for Bahawalpur Press Club which would be constructed within one year.
