Sometimes it's good to take a break from the summer Hollywood action flicks or Bollywood romances and take in a documentary, and if you're a fan of stunning visuals Samsara will take your breath away.

From the creators of Baraka, no amount of words could do the trailer justice.  It's like if the BBC and National Geographic got together to shoot the offspring of Planet Earth it would look like Samsara.

It was shot in 70mm in 25 countries over the span of five years.

From sweeping landscapes to time-lapse sequences of the night sky and from exclusive looks into the processing of food to the consumption and effects it has on the human body, Samsara is nothing short of astounding.

Modern technology, production lines, and human robotics are juxtaposed against a backdrop of deserts, garbage mounds as far as the eye can see, and traffic congestion in modern centres.

The time-lapse footage is simply transcendent.

In fact, you find yourself questioning the reality of some of the landscape vistas and night skyline montages from the trailer alone.

It's good to give reality a shot every now and again. After all, they say truth is greater than fiction.
