PESHAWAR, Dec 20: Students of Peshawar University belonging to the Islami Jamiat Talaba on Friday observed a black day against the policies of the vice-chancellor.
Some students, wearing black arm-bands, gathered in front of the Institute of Management Studies and proceeded to the Students-Teachers Centre passing through various departments.
IJT’s Nazim for the university, Abidur Rehman, speaking to the protesters, alleged that the VC’s policies were depriving the students of the right to education.
He asked NWFP Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah to order a probe into the affairs of the university.
A delegation of Islamia College students, led by the IJT’s acting Nazim, Suhail Ahmad Babar Rahi, met the principal and discussed with him the rise in hostel fee, abolition of masters of arts classes, non-availability of transport facilities and the attitude of the administration.
The principal assured the students that their problems would be solved.
