KARACHI, Dec 19: Two small children died in road accidents in the city on Thursday.
Police said that a four-year-old boy, Ali Akbar, was run over by a speeding minibus of route P-4 in the police limits of Khwaja Ajmer Nagri. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
He was playing outside his house in a shanty town when the accident took place.
Police claimed to have arrested the bus driver, Zulfiqar, on the spot and impounded the vehicle.
A five-year-old girl, Kiran, died in a road accident in Mochko.
Police said that the girl was playing outside her house in Raja Tanveer Colony when she came under the wheels of a water tanker (JT-0227). The driver was taking reverse gear when the accident occurred.
The child died on the spot.
The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Thursday, police said.
Armed men robbed Abdul Rashid of cash and valuables, including electronic goods, in Defence. They escaped on a motorcycle.
A gang of bandits barged into the house of Babar Ali in Chanesar goth, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash and valuables.
Armed men robbed Abdul Hameed of cash and his mobile phone in Garden area.
RANSACKED: Unknown persons ransacked an office of the National Aliens Registration Authority (Nara) in Orangi Town on Thursday.
Police said that unknown persons barged into the office of Nara and ransacked the premises in sector 12-L of Orangi Town. They also resorted to stone-pelting in which several officials present at the office were injured.
An FIR against unknown persons has been lodged at Orangi Extension police station.
