KARACHI, Dec 19: Installation of scanning machine at Peshawar airport has helped increase exports of perishable goods, including fruits, vegetables, and fresh meat from the NWFP.

Export Promotion Bureau with the help of CAA installed a scanning machine in April this year.

According to trade sources, over 901,023 kg of fresh fruits, vegetables and fresh meat had so far been exported from Peshawar airport. In the past, the perishable goods used to lose their quality because of delay in their clearance.

Proper maintenance of this facility will accelerate the export of perishable goods and also help generate economic activity in far flung areas of NWFP on sustainable basis.
